at Artichoke Music

EP release concert, 3130 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland, OR

I am really excited about this show, coming up on Sept 26 at our beloved Artichoke Music.  Not only will I be joined by a great guest band, the show will be opened by Nashville recording and touring duo Mare Wakefield and Nomad. I first met Mare last year at the Tumbleweed Music Festival. We have been in touch off and on and it turned out that she and Nomad will be touring through Portland on the day of my show - timing is everything, as they say.  "With a voice that's been called "Oregon cafes, small Texas towns and twangy Nashville rolled into one" (Cranky Crow, Seattle) Mare (pronounced Mary) is gently carving out a name for herself.  She was also a NewFolk Finalist this year at Kerrville.marewakefield.com

My new EP "Near and Far" was soft-released online earlier this year, but there wasn't time to pull together a release show, with other irons in the fire.  When early autumn rolls in, however, most everyone is back from summer travel, kids are back in school, and life is settling down to the home fires. Perfect time for dinner out and a concert. My guest band (so far) includes keyboardist extraordinaire Jean-Pierre Garau, bass wizard Arcellus Sykes, the drumming finesse of Anders Bergstrom, and Kelly Brightwell with her amazing voice on backing vocals.  There may be some other surprise guests on a few other songs as well. For a preview, a couple of the EP song clips are playing on my home page music player mix. Admission is just $15 (door or reserve) which includes a free copy of the EP.  Doors 7:30, music starts at 8.  As usual, the regular Artichoke refreshments are close at hand.
