Released January 24, 2025 | On Michael's third album project, "If The Sky Fell," he shares his continuing fascination with cinematic sensibilities and sweeping stories, including the night-into-day journey of the title track, the blessing of enduring love in "Wildest Sea," the between-worlds mystery of "Ghost Pines," vignettes of interminable waiting for change in “Days By Degrees,” the centuries trek of the protagonist in "Burning Bush," even the galaxy-spanning collective cry of humanity in "East To West". This collection of songs, in one way or another, takes note of the inexorable passage of life; of precious moments, of striving to taste and feel them; of the constant flow of the future quickly becoming the past.
Michael Henchman's "Near and Far" EP is a mostly-acoustic project, continuing to explore characters finding their way along wayward paths.... the sweetness of finally coming home; being free yet not free of love; hard times on the prairie; stepping into a larger life after loss of a parent.
Rousing anthems, bittersweet ballads, and stories of wandering roads less traveled. Acoustic and electric folk meets Americana, in a diverse yet cohesive collection of songs backed by some of Portland, Oregon's finest musicians.
“...I’m 40 miles from midnight And a million more from clear sight -- No sign of slowin' down...”
Originally released on the album "40 Miles From Midnight". An entreaty for the homeless and less fortunate. Acoustic version released on the Folk Now "Songs for These Times" compilation for May/June 2025, by Hudson Harding Music.
